As dating apps have transformed social interaction into a process of quick selection, entry, and elimination, daily-matching has never been more convenient and rapid. Within half seconds, a gentle swipe on the screen, you have again matched/ rejected an offer with him/her/it.

“Slow Dating - Human Instrumentality Project” promotes “less media, more social”. Face-to-face human interaction in the actual world that helps you to ease the loneliness driven by virtual relationship. If the art event is a date, such an event should be connected to the vast majority of human community in addition to the minority as in the art field.

We have invited two local artists experienced in date-planning: Doreen Chan and Ip Wai Lung, together with Videotage project coordinator Joseph Chen and Kelvin Yiu, to curate and host a series of events to connect the queer community. In the name of art, a micro-heterotopia for non-heterosexuals or non-cisgenders is constructed to erase the estrangement among a wide range of gender, sexual orientation, race, age and social class, which completed us as a whole.

Slowly and gradually engaging with each other, the event temporarily sets aside the differences in identity, disarming our defensive mechanism step by step and eventually merging ourselves into the holistic relational realm.
